Michigan is divided into Upper and Lower Michigan by the Straits of Mackinac,
which connect Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. The state is located far enough
north to have distinctive seasons and the topography is a beautiful combination
of rolling and steep hills combined flatter areas. The area has an economy
based on manufacturing, agriculture, transportation and other business services.
Due to the proximity of the great Lakes the state also has a strong tourism
industry.
