Empowering Older Adults to "Age in Place"

Our goal, here at Accessible Comforts, is to impact our client's life by empowering them to become more self-sufficient, more confident, happier and safer in their own home. In conjunction we want to help relieve the enormous amount of pressure potentially placed on the caregiver by eliminating the obstacles to providing care that we find in the home. This is accomplished first with healthcare professionals creating an individual design for both the client and caregiver. The second step then involves the modification process by creating various solutions and installing products that assist in meeting our client's needs and budget. With few modifications, many older Americans can easily live in the home they love and not have to move. Accessible Comforts has extensive training on "aging in place." The training allows the company to be an excellent resource to older couples and their families regarding not only bathing issues but also other "aging in place" strategies for the entire home.

Making Life Easier by Offering Solutions

When you hire Accessible Comforts you are not just hiring another contractor and purchasing a product but you are obtaining a value based service as well as a quality product specifically engineered to our client's needs. Accessible Comforts is here to serve families during a difficult time by offering solutions that will make life easier for the caregiver as well as our client.

Accessible Comforts is a division of Cobblestone Homes, LLC. Cobblestone Homes was founded by Doug Woltersdorf in 2002 and is a member of the local BIA and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Doug is also a certified "Aging in Place" Specialist (CAPS) offering design solutions for safe, independent living at home. 3 generations of the Woltersdorf family are involved with the business and provide home remodeling services to the Portland and Vancouver area. The company is very proud of completing the accessible bath training which allows them to support individuals that want to age in place.

The concept of "Aging in Place" is to encourage and support older adults that want to alter their home for growing older without needing to relocate to a specialized health care environment. Typically the bathroom and kitchen are the most important rooms for remodeling. Accessible Comforts can provide solutions for both of these rooms and the entire home.
